Diagnostic Imaging

ESHC provides the following diagnostic imaging services for both inpatient and out patient referrals:

  • Ultrasound
  • CT scan
  • Radiology (X-Ray)
  • Mammography

For Outpatient Ultrasound, CT scan and other special procedures, your Doctor’s office will fax a referral and an appointment will be given. You may also bring in a referral form from your doctor to make an appointment in person. Patients may call themselves or have their doctor fax the request for mammography. A doctor’s referral (requisition) form is required for any diagnostic procedure with the exception of a mammogram through the Ontario Breast Screening Program for those women who qualify (over 50yrs old with no history of breast cancer).

Be sure your doctor tells you about any fasting or other requirements to prepare for your tests. If you are not sure, please feel free to contact the Diagnostic Imaging Department 519-322-2501, Ext.4416 for information.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel an appointment so we can arrange for another patient to come.

Nuclear Medicine

The Nuclear Medicine Department provides various nuclear medicine procedures such as Bone Scans; MIBI scans Renal (Kidney) Scans and others to diagnose various medical conditions. A radioactive dye is injected which will target specific organs.

The department also provides Bone Mineral Density Testing.

Be sure your doctor tells you about any fasting or other requirements to prepare for your tests. If you are not sure, please feel free to contact the Nuclear Medicine Department 519-322-2501, Ext. 4410 for information.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel an appointment so we can arrange for another patient to come.

If you are having a Nuclear Medicine test and plan to cross the border please let the technologist know. He/she will give you a letter verifying you have had the test and some residual radioactive material may still be in your system. This could be detected at the border. You will need to present the letter to the border guard or risk being refused entry.
