Leamington Hospital Auxiliary
The LDMH Auxiliary is a vital partnership to the hospital. The Auxiliary Volunteer Membership currently boasts more than 420 active members including student volunteers who volunteer at the hospital , the Leamington Area Family Health Team and The Hospice Erie Shores Campus. There is a wide variance in ages, from high school students up to members in their nineties.
The Auxiliary was founded in 1950. Its main focus is to fundraise for capital expenditures including medical equipment within the hospital and Hospice Erie Shores Campus. The funds are primarily raised through merchandise sales in the Inspirations Gift Shop which has become the Auxiliary’s single largest fundraising method. The Auxiliary also raises funds through children’s book sales, knitting groups, bake sales and fundraisers. Auxiliary members are also very active in the community volunteering and supporting various events such as the SECC Chilifest, the Poor Boy Luncheon and the Canadian Cancer Society Annual Soup and Salad Luncheon.
The Auxiliary is governed by a 25 member Board of Directors. Monthly Board meetings are held on the third Monday of every month from September to June. Volunteers are encouraged to attend to share their ideas and to engage in the discussions with the LDMH Auxiliary Board regarding the volunteer program. The Auxiliary is very proud of the continual care and support our volunteers are able to provide. The professionalism, compassion and understanding of our volunteers and the support they provide to the hospital and Hospice Erie Shores Campus are paramount to our community.
